Back in June we spent a weekend at Dan's parents. While we were there a thunderstorm hit in the middle of the night. A very loud boom and bright flash made me jump out of bed! The next morning Dan's mom was at the kitchen window and noticed something laying in the yard. When she looked more she saw a tree had been struck! We all kept thinking it hit very close to the house but we were looking out the windows on the other side of the house and never saw any damage.

Its amazing to see the power of the lightning! The entire tree trunk was split!
This view shows the other side of the tree, plus you can see how far the bark was thrown from the tree (its laying on the sidewalk)
Amazingly, Avery and Cody slept through the whole thing! We could not belive it because it kept the rest of us up!
