Avery got this cute IU cheerleader outfit from Aunt Natalie for Christmas. Avery loves to wear it when we watch the hoosiers play basketball. She looks sooo cute and is totally into cheering right now! I thinkthis is just the perfect cheer pose:)
Sometimes she will say "Go Purdue"...Daddy is a little confusing when it comes to sports- Purdue for football and Indiana for basketball. You have to be from Indiana to understand:) Anyway, Avery will say the wrong team name sometimes....she even throws in "Go Colts"...I guess it's not really the wrong team, just the wrong season to cheer for that particular team!
This video is hilarious! You have to watch till the end and pay attention to what she asks at the end!
By the way...I googled what a hoosier is...here is what I found out: The origin of the word is still up for debate but the word "hoosier" was freqently used in many parts of the South in the 19th century for woodsmen or rough hill people. Jacob Piatt Dunn, Jr. and Indiana historian, traced the word back to "hoozer" in the Cumberland dialect of England. This derives from the Anglo-Saxon word "hoo" meaning high or hill. The word "hoozer" meant anything unusually large, presumably like a hill. It is not hard to see how this word was attached to a hill dweller or highlander. Immigrants from England settled in the southern mountains and their descendents brought the name with them when they settled in the hills of southern Indiana.
